What's this all about?
We are a group of creatives, radicals and pagans centred around Fountayne Road, Tottenham. We like to mark the changes of the season with fires, ceremonies and song. We want our events to be spiritually nourishing and politically charged.
There was a time when the calendar would be filled with communal celebrations. Seasonal changes, holy days and historic anniversaries were all marked with feasting, partying and rituals. Whole towns would be involved in celebrating these together. Now most people mark only Christmas, Halloween and perhaps Easter, often with only their immediate family. The necessities of work have pushed out our opportunities for communal celebration; we now work more days than your average medieval peasant.
It is important to restore and revive these celebrations. They will connect us with the environment and history. They will connect us as a community and fight against the mindset of hustle and grind. You do not need to subscribe to any particular spiritual or political belief to attend. We do not invoke any particular gods in our ceremonies.
We had our first fire to mark Winter Solstice 2023. It was a small event with maybe 15 attendees, best described as a bin-fire in a car park with ideas above its station. Since then we have grown as an event and a team. We have had a maypole, feasts, craft sessions, bands, fire spinners and a puppet show. We are excited to see where this adventure will take us.
These events are co-created. Do not expect to turn up and have everything provided for you. Everyone attending is a participant and creator, not a consumer or observer. All food and entertainment is provided by attendees, not organisers. Please read the ”Songs and Stories” and ”What to Bring” sections of the sidebar for extra information. Anyone is welcome to help organise and run the events, see below.
We are currently seeking help! These are increasingly large and complicated events, with increasing pressure being put onto a small group of organisers. The door is always open to anyone that wants to bring a craft stall, run an activity, lend a hand with set up and take down. We are truly thankful for any help that we can get. Please get in touch.
At the moment, we need help with the hosting of the events. So far, Will has been running the ceremonies and Alan the fireside sessions. This is a lot of work for us and it means that events easily become marred by our personal biases, idiosyncrasies and flaws. It also limits our ability to respond to practical concerns that arise during the event. We welcome anyone that would like to be involved, but we would be particularly appreciative if anyone from a marginalised community would like to become part of our hosting team.
